We are now looking for an À la Carte Chef for the 2026-2027 Winter season
Nova Galaxy Village is seeking a talented, independent, and socially outgoing À la Carte Chef to spearhead the unique culinary experience at our boutique lodge restaurant, Stella Nova Flame.
Stella Nova Flame is an intimate, guest-exclusive Lappish Kota restaurant centered around the heritage of open-fire cooking. This role is far from a traditional "back of house" position; the ideal candidate must not only be a skilled culinary craftsman but also an interactive storyteller who cooks, plates, and serves dishes directly in front of an international clientele.
Key Responsibilities
- Live-Fire Gastronomy: Prepare, season, and masterfully cook Nordic menus over an open flame, carefully managing heat and smoke profiles.
- Guest Interaction & Presentation: Actively engage with guests during dinner service. Present dishes, explain local flavour profiles, and provide high-quality, friendly customer service.
- Menu Planning & Execution, Prep Work: Manage all daily kitchen operations independently, including prep work, ingredient portioning, and final dish arrangement.
- Daily Restaurant Tasks: Maintain cleanliness of the Kota kitchen workspace, monitor food storage temperatures, manage inventory, and assist with general restaurant duties.
- HACCP Compliance: Adhere to Finnish food hygiene guidelines, cleanliness protocols, and sanitation regulations.
What We Expect (Requirements)
- À la Carte Experience: Proven background working in a professional, fast-paced À la Carte kitchen setting.
- Open-Flame Proficiency: Comfort level working with live fire and smoke-based cooking methods.
- Independence & Adaptability: Ability to confidently work completely solo in the kitchen while maintaining high stress tolerance and adapting to shifting seasonal flows.
- Social Personality: An open, outgoing, and communicative personality suited for a front-facing chef concept.
- Language Skills: Fluency in spoken English is required to communicate seamlessly with our international luxury tourists.
- Finnish Certifications: A valid Finnish Hygiene Passport (Hygieniapassi) and an Alcohol Serving License (Anniskelupassi).
- Logistics: A valid Class B Driver’s License and access to a personal car are required due to the resort's quiet forest location 15km outside Rovaniemi.
